For a safe workplace
Different occupations carry different types of risks. Perhaps you work with large machines or heavy loads that make working alone a risk of injury. Or work in health and social care that involves the risk of threats, violence or harassment. We work to ensure that everyone can feel safe at work.
The Work Environment Act on safety at your workplace
The purpose of the Work Environment Act is to prevent ill health and accidents at work. According to Chapter 3, it is the employer’s responsibility to take all necessary measures to prevent accidents and thus injuries and ill health at work. An example of preventive measures is analysing the risks in the activity and investing in the right safety equipment. Premises and machinery, tools, protective equipment and other technical devices must be well maintained (1977:1160).
Violence and threats in the work environment
According to the regulation Våld och hot i arbetsmiljön (AFS 1993:2), the employer is obliged to take risk prevention measures in occupations where there is a risk of being exposed to violence or threats. The risk of being exposed to violence or threats increases significantly if you are responsible for caring for people. These risk prevention measures also include protective equipment, alarms and other safety devices. The aim is to make it possible for the victim of threats and violence to inform colleagues quickly.
