The Nordic’s Tallest Building Secures their Residents with Unified Communication

With 74 floors and a stately 246 meters high, Karlatornet stands and looks over Gothenburg.
Karlatornet has been given the title of the tallest building in the Nordic region and is a skyscraper that can be seen from afar in all parts of Sweden’s second largest city. Residents did not move in until August 2023, but the construction was completed a little more than a year later and the tower was inaugurated in the autumn of 2024.

A Complete Security Solution
Together with Zenitel, we delivered COBS Unified Communication – Säkra Utrymmen to Karlatornet. In combination with our partner SAC Nordic, who supplemented this with a spoken evacuation alarm, we have been able to give Karlatornet among the safest systems available.
“Our valuable partners COBS and SAC Nordic have contributed their skills and expertise to the project to create the best solution for the end user. With a constant focus on adapting the solution for the customer’s benefit.“
– Michael Kragh, Zenitel
Two-Way Communication in a Complex Environment
A safe space is a place where residents and visitors can go to get to safety in the event of a fire, for example, and from where they can conduct a two-way communication.
In a building as complex and tall as Karlatornet, a lot of care and knowledge is required to ensure that no matter what may happen, residents, staff and visitors should feel safe with our security communications solutions. Thus, the safety regulations in the construction of Karlatornet have been rigorous and COBS’ goal was then to make Karlatornet’s Unified Communication solution one of the most secure available.
We were entrusted by Granitor Electro and Serneke to deliver our solutions thanks to COBS’ long-standing partnership with Zenitel and over 40 years of experience in critical communication solutions.
